For Boys and Girls age 12 and Under
Our 2021 Summer Golf program begins on Wednesday, June 9 and lasts thru Thursday,
July 29. Program offers more learning opportunities, more playing
opportunities, and more individualized instruction.
* The format is a bit different than in the past so carefully review the schedule *
Instruction will be led by PGA Professionals and Certified US Kids instructors Douglas Dunbar and Brent McGrew.
Together, they have combined experience of over 50 years in developing and mentoring young players as they
travel the pathway to success. U.S. Kids Golf Certified Coaches are recognized as experts in teaching golf
to kids ages 12 and under. In 2021, Coach “B” was selected as one of the top 50 US Kids instructors worldwide.
As part of the new 2021 program, players will receive easy to follow instruction booklets “The Simple Path to Learning Golf”.
These Player Pathway Manuals outline an easy-to-follow curriculum that is perfect for kids, parents, and coaches.
This program provides participants a clear path from a beginner to becoming a more advanced player.
Participants ages 8 & under will receive Level 1 and 2 booklets, ages 9-10 will receive level 2 and 3 booklets, and
ages 11-12 will receive level 3 and 4 booklets. Each level includes achievement pins for full swing, short game,
putting, course management, scoring, plus a Master pin for completing each level. US Kids logo'd
caps and visors may also be purchased at The Van Berg Family learning center at the discounted rate of $15.

Summer Youth Advancement Golf League
Youth Ages 13 to 18
This golf league is designed for boys and girls ages 13 to 18 that have some on-course experience and is ready & willing to elevate his or her game to the next level. This format uniquely combines organized league play, tournament play and individual instruction. The instruction will be targeted towards getting each player the skills they need to reach his or her goals in skill advancement. Besides basic fundamentals instruction, we will cover course management, the mental game, pre-shot and post shot routines, controlling ball flight, distance control, rules and etiquette…to name a few. The cost of $150 per player Includes a season range pass to Quail Run w/ bag tag, green fees for league play, entry into the city championship, YOC (Youth on Course Card) that allows the player to play at participating golf course for only $4 or $5, weekly and year-end prizes, and discounts on private instruction by Head PGA Professional Brent McGrew. The clinics will be directed by PGA Professionals Brent McGrew and Douglas Dunbar plus a host of local golf celebrities.

Achievement Levels and Awards...Breaking through a personal scoring barrier is one of the most satisfying accomplishments in golf. It takes dedication to understanding fundamentals, proper practice procedures, as well as playing and competition opportunities. After completion of this program players will earn a Break-Through Belt based on their best scoring accomplishments.
* Breaking 120 (or 60 twice on 9 holes)…Orange Belt
* Breaking 100 (or 50 twice on 9 holes)…Red Belt
* Red Breaking 90 (or 45 twice on 9 holes)…White Belt
* Breaking 80 (or 40 twice on 9 holes)…Brown Belt
* Breaking Par (or breaking par twice on 9 holes)…Black Belt

Race to the "Optimist Cup"
Age Groups

Boys & Girls 16-18
Each week competitors, based on his or her score, will earn points within their respective age groups. The winners in the race to the Optimist Cup are determined through a series of six 9-hole events for regular points and three 18-hole "major" events in which double points are awarded. The top point earners in each age group will have their name permanently etched onto the Optimist Cup.
Top point earners in each age croup will also receive the following:
1st: Fitted Callaway Driver
2nd: Fitted Odyssey Putter
3rd: Fitted "Jaws" Wedge
4th: 1 Dozen Chrome Soft Balls
5th: Callaway premium glove
